Coaches Spotlight: Tomas Guaragna

About Tommy!

PYC Youth Sailing welcomes Tomas (Tommy) Guaragna to our coaching team for summer 2025! Tommy is from Argentina and has been coaching since 2016. He started sailing when he was 4 and has not stopped since then. He has competed in high-performance Opti and ILCA classes, achieving podium finishes at international championships. Later on, he transitioned into coaching, where he coached different race teams at national and international championships, including IODA events, representing his home country. In 2021, he founded his own sailing school, where they teach Opti, ILCA, and Windsurf. This past Fall and Spring, Tommy coached the Optimist Race Team and other aspiring racers through year-round sailing training. This program included Opti Greenfleets as well as RWB fleets. This is Tommy’s second year at the PJYC, and he has continued to inspire the next generation of racers year-round!
